What is the meaning of Karma? Does it mean destiny?
Answer
Karma is a condition, and not destiny. It is one of the five factors which decide any event pertaining to a human life. Karma is the motivated action of the individual whose result whether good or bad is reaped by the doer. It is called the kriyamana. The accumulated result is referred to as the Karma of the previous birth which is carried over to the current account during this birth. It is called the prarbdha. The third type of Karma is the sanchita or the accumulated during the cycles of birth that determines the gene.brbrDestiny is the result of the accumulated Karma of the previous birth what the Indians call Daivam in their philosophy. Fate or destiny or the Daivam is the result of the previous life or prarbdha.
